After breakfast, embark on a walking tour through the charming streets of Amsterdam. Your afternoon and evening are free to enjoy Amsterdam’s wonderful restaurants and many attractions; explore the city’s art or historic museums; or take a stroll along the picturesque canals. This evening, dine in a local restaurant—Amsterdam offers many establishments in the “grand café” style and is also known for excellent Indonesian cuisine—and enjoy the city’s lively nightlife. (B)

Arrive in Amsterdam, where you will be met by your Viking Host and transfer to The Hague. After check-in, the remainder of your day is free to explore this intriguing city’s mix of modern and historic architecture at your leisure. Mauritshuis Museum, The Hague

Day 2 - The Hague

After breakfast, explore the historic landmarks of The Hague during a guided walk. View the Binnenhof, the seat of the Dutch government with buildings dating to the 13th century. See the Mauritshuis, home to some of the world’s most famous paintings from the Dutch Golden Age, including masterpieces such as Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring. Stroll by the Noordeinde Palace, one of the king’s three royal palaces, then return to your hotel, where the remainder of the day is at your leisure. (B)

Day 3 - The Hague

This morning, set out to further explore The Hague on your own. This afternoon, check out of your hotel and transfer to Amsterdam, stopping for photos outside the famous Peace Palace en route to joining your awaiting ship. (B)

Treasures of Well-Preserved Historic City

Step back in time during a guided walking tour of one of the best-preserved medieval cities in the world. Bruges’s city center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a cultural and artistic center and home to such important Flemish painters as van Eyck and Memling. Walk with your knowledgeable guide past the homes of prominent former residents. You will also visit the Béguinage and its gardens. Built during the 13th century, this complex was once home to followers of the Beguine religious movement and is currently a monastery for Benedictine sisters. Pass by the Church of Our Lady, whose 400-foot spire is one of the world’s tallest brick structures. Behind the church, see the Gruuthuse palace and gardens, once the medieval home of one of the wealthiest families in Bruges. Enjoy three hours of free time during the tour in which to have lunch on your own.

Greatest Flower Show on Earth and Walk in City of Almshouses and Art

Walk the footpaths of renowned Keukenhof Gardens and the streets of charming Haarlem. Every spring, a vibrant, multihued carpet blankets the 70 acres at Keukenhof Gardens. After a short orientation, enjoy free time to stroll among 100 varieties of tulips that are grown on these 15th-century hunting grounds. Afterward, drive to Haarlem, nicknamed “Flower City” due to its ties the tulip-bulb growing industry. Following lunch, set out on a walk, passing some of the city’s hofjes (almshouses), provided by Dutch cities since the 14th century to house single elderly women. See historic houses and the city’s famed square where five streets meet. During a guided visit of the Frans Hals Museum, admire the work of Haarlem’s Old Masters of the Golden Age. Visiting a cheese farm, get an in-depth look at how one of The Netherlands’ top products is made. Upon arrival, enjoy a walk around the farm with your hosts, busy farmers making their living off the earth. Later, meet the cheese makers who patiently create their product from fresh milk and learn the craft, process and history of cheese making, which dates back to pre-Christian times.
