Viking normally enjoys prime docking locations in all the ports we visit, but due to limited availability of docking spots in central Amsterdam, the port authority has reassigned several Viking ships to alternate arrangements.
The following departures are affected:
- October 28th Rhine Getaway aboard Viking Eir - Guests will now embark at Westerhoofd 11
- October 28th Grand European Tour aboard Viking Vili – Viking Vili will not be able to reach Amsterdam for embarkation. Guests will now embark sister ship Viking Ve at Westerhoofd 11, and may swap midway through the cruise to Viking Vili
The Elbe River has been experiencing low water levels due to limited rain fall. Conditions have now improved, and we currently expect departures for the upcoming week to operate as normal. Please note, however, that conditions may change again on short notice. Guests will be notified individually in case further itinerary alterations become necessary, and updates will be posted on this page.
KEMBS LOCK MAINTENANCE
Due to the scheduled repair work on the lock at Kembs on the Rhine, we anticipate that there may be some delays in sailing between Strasbourg, France, and Basel, Switzerland. Please be advised that prolonged delays may result in slight changes in your itinerary. This situation affects all 2016 sailings on the following itineraries:
- Rhine Getaway
- Rhineland Discovery
- Rhine Rhapsody
Guests on affected departures have been contacted individually.
