A Memorable Day for Our Viking Family

On March 19, 2019, we welcomed an impressive seven new river ships to our award-winning fleet during a festive naming ceremony along the historic banks of the Rhine River in Basel, Switzerland. Two of the ships were named onsite in Basel, while the remaining five were named “virtually” by connecting the new ships via satellite across three European cities. In keeping with a thousand-year-old maritime tradition, the vessels were named by godmothers—valued members of the Viking family.

Enjoy a glimpse of this memorable day and join us in wishing Viking Einar, Viking Sigrun, Viking Sigyn, Viking Ullur, Viking Tir, Viking Vali and Viking Helgrim safe travels!
