The Norse god Kvasir is born out of peace. When the two warring factions of the Aesir and the Vanir agree to form a truce, they do so with each god spitting into a bowl and stirring the saliva. From this, Kvasir, a new god of knowledge is created.
Kvasir embodies all the gods’ knowledge. So great is his knowledge that there is no question he cannot answer. When two dwarves, Fjalar and Galar invite him to feast with them, Kvasir accepts their invitation only to be murdered by the dwarves. They drain his blood and mix it with honey and ferment it into a highly potent mead. This becomes known as Kvas, the Mead of Poetry, that imparts wisdom and inspiration to all who drink it.
