Mỹ Tho River Cruises
Founded in the 1680s by Chinese refugees who fled Taiwan, Mỹ Tho is the capital of Tiền Giang province. After its settlement, it quickly grew into a major hub of commerce, thanks in no small part to its location on the Mekong Delta that provided easy access to upriver cities and villages. Mỹ Tho is widely known as the last city captured by the French in 1862, ushering in a century of dominance by the European nation. Vestiges of the colonial period remain, as does the unique character of a delta enclave reliant on the tides of the Mekong.
